The Captain’s Blog

The magazine itself is published bimonthly, because that allows a civilised pace of life, and time to edit and hone stories.

WireWheels is published digitally because the economics of printing car mags is a death spiral, even if it’s printed in Singapore on bogroll and a fat shelf fee is paid to WHSmith.

The world is not bimonthly, with life hurtling past at a most undignified pace, and we think you deserve a weekly opportunity to skive off from all that and escape briefly into our castor-oil-scented, spoked and leather-trimmed world.

When Ayrspeed was orchestrating the build of the Levit Rolls-Royce Special, a weekly progress log was written for client and friend Al in Chicago every Sunday evening, accompanied by a nice glass of Bowmore or Laphroaig. Smokehead gets a look-in too. Okay, they’re not nice as such, but they are pleasing. That tradition continued after the car was finished and delivered.

Accordingly, consider yourself invited.
